Event Overview
The Green Mountain Council and the Norwich University Scouting Association (NUSA) proudly present Norwich Merit & Mission 2026 (NU Scouting Day)—a midwinter celebration of Scouting’s birthday and the spirit of adventure.
This fullday program brings together Scouts, leaders, and families for learning, fellowship, and fun at historic Norwich University.
Check-in starts no later than 8am; Opening Ceremony at 8:30am: Sessions start promptly after Opening Ceremony (no later than 9am).
Program Highlights
Merit Badge College
A wide variety of engaging merit badge opportunities for Scouts BSA youth, led by experienced instructors. Sessions are either morning, afternoon, and in a few cases one merit badge for the day (Environmental Science, Cybersecurity, Artifical Intelligence, Citizenship in the World and Climbing). Scouts will register for their merit badge upon registration.
Scouting University Classes
Training and enrichment sessions for adult volunteers, designed to strengthen leadership skills, share best practices, and inspire new ideas. No need to sign up for a class at registration, but classes are listed on the registration site.
Norwich Hockey Game
An evening of excitement for the entire Scouting family as we cheer on Norwich University and celebrate together. $5/ ticket per person. Scout themed evening during the Men's Hockey Game.

Why Attend?
Norwich Merit & Mission 2026/ NU Scouting Day is more than just a training or activity day—it’s a chance to strengthen Scouting across Vermont, celebrate our shared values, and create lasting memories with fellow Scouts and families. The event is being sponsored by the Norwich University Scouting Association/ Crew 1819 chartered by American Legion Post 1819. The NUSA formed as a NESA chapter in the early 80s and continues to support scouts throughout state, region, and country. Norwich has over 80 Eagles within their student population and has hosted events on campus since 1987.
