ACTIVITIES:
Melt to Hydrate
On the Ice Planet – fire is a matter of survival. You have just made camp and you need clean water. How fast can your patrol make a fire and turn a cup of snow around you into a boiling cup of water?
First Aid Rescue
Your squad is on a routine patrol when you come across an Imperial Scouting party. Your squad manages to escape alive, but in doing so one of your squad-mates trips over some ice and sprains their leg. Provide proper first aid and construct a stretcher to transport them back to base.
Two-Scout Saw
Research on the Ice Planet is essential. The research is being done to develop a new medicine which can be produced locally in these cold unforgiving lands. Take a botany sample from one of the planets trees. Scouts will use a two person saw to cut two pancakes off a log. Teamwork and safety are important on the ice planet, so points will be deducted for unsafe cutting practices.
Ice Sample & Transport
One desire for traveling to the Ice Planet was for exploration. Is the soil different on the ice planet that of Planet Earth? In this station Scouts will work together to move the “contaminated soil sample” from the middle of a “vast deep ice crevice” to the edge where they can take it back to the lab for testing.
Emergency Shelter Build
You have heard the stories of how Luke Skywalker took shelter in a carcass of a tauntaun, but you do not have one to retreat into. So, instead you must use your shelter building skills to protect yourselves from the harsh elements. Scouts are to bring their own materials with them to build their shelter. There may be some limited materials available to add to their structure, but nothing is guaranteed in the terrain on the Ice Planet.
Wampa Bag
You found yourself in the wilderness of Hoth and are ready to settle down for the night. But remember that you must setup your wampa bag to keep your food safe. Place all food from the sled into a bag and suspend from the tree so wampas cannot steal it during the night.
Trip the AT-AT (Klondike Sled Race)
The alarms have been sounded, your patrol must run to the hangar and ready your snow speeder for battle. Prepare your snow speeder by tying the weight to the end of your cable then load the cable in your snow speeder. Once the snow speeder is ready, race to the AT-AT and use your cable to trip the AT-AT using all your years of training. Once the AT-AT has been tripped you must race back to the safety of the hangar.
