TRAVEL PLANS

The Green Mountain Council Contingent will leave Vermont on Monday, July 17 and travel to Pennsylvania.  Our tentative plan is to stay at a BSA Cabin, tour the Gettysburg museum and cyclorama, plus hike the battlefield. Then onto the Jamboree on Wednesday, July 19 and camp there until the morning of July 28, returning home that evening.

ORGANIZATION

The Jamboree is open to all who are qualified on a first come basis.  After our Units have been filled, a standby list of alternates will be established.  Scouts will be assigned to a Jamboree Unit consisting of 36 Scouts and four adult leaders.  The council contingent will  consist of up to 1 1/2 units. Our Council Units will be in one of four camps, mixed in with Units from all over the country, and the world.

Jamboree camping and facilities are located in a fairly compact area, but there are many

remote and off site activities, including whitewater, other aquatics, rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking that are part of the daily schedule.

FEE INCLUDES

The Jamboree fee covers all transportation, tours, admission fees, meals, lodging, patrol and Unit equipment, as well as insurance.  Fee also covers the training camps before the Jamboree, and items such as a  shirt, patches, hat, rain jacket, and Jambo duffle bag to each Contingent member.  Additional expense will be any personal equipment, uniforms, spending money and whitewater rafting (optional).  This fee is based upon estimated transportation and hotel costs.  If those costs increase, we may have to increase the Jamboree fee accordingly.  We will  be engaging in fundraising activities to keep costs down.  Some scholarship funds will be available.  Early Jamboree registration, and request for scholarship assistance in writing are strongly encouraged, since these funds will be limited.

REFUND POLICY

If you sign up for the Jamboree and then find that you cannot attend, you will receive a full refund from the Green Mountain Council only if there is an alternate to take your place.  In the event that there is not an alternate, a partial refund will be made.  This includes the fees that you have paid to date, less any expenses related to contractual agreements on your behalf.
