Why Wood Badge? Because every youth deserves a trained leader AND it is FUN!
Event Overview
- Wood Badge is an advanced, national leadership course for Scouting volunteers and professionals.
- It is open to Scouters from Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, Explorers, as well as district and council Scouters.
Course Activities
Participants engage in activities such as:
- Listening
- Managing conflict
- Leading change
- Stages of team development
- Coaching & Mentoring
- Leadership for different stages
- Servant leadership
- Project planning
These activities are delivered through presentations, games, discussions, and other methods.

Purpose
- The primary goal is to develop skilled leaders to strengthen Scouting units and achieve the mission of the Boy Scouts of America.
- Emphasizes the importance of thinking about the practice of Scouting, exchanging experiences, and living together in the spirit of the Scout Oath.
Course Requirements
- Must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America.
- Must have completed basic training for their Scouting position.
- Must be capable of functioning safely in an outdoor environment and complete the Annual Health and Medical Record form.
