Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills IOLS

IOLS – Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is a training course that provides leaders with basic skills and information to run a successful
outdoor program.  

BSA requires at least 1 IOLS trained leader to be on every Scout overnight.  It is required of all Scoutmasters and Asst Scoutmasters. 
Other Scouts BSA Leaders are welcome to take this training.  Leaders will learn the necessary basic skills in helping scouts work towards
earning the First Class Rank.  The course will cover fire building, using wood tools, hiking, packing for a trip, where to setup a tent, map and
compass, knots, lashings, cooking and other skills.   

This class will be at Mt Norris Scout Reservation on Friday May 21.  Check-in between 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and will end on Saturday May 22 at 5 p.m.  Leaders will sleep overnight in their tent and get the full camping experience.
