Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Class

Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Course
The American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor training course is designed to equip candidates with the expertise and pedagogical skills necessary to effectively teach lifeguarding courses. Participants will learn to facilitate engaging learning experiences, assess student performance, and ensure course content meets American Red Cross standards for safety and effectiveness. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be certified to instruct American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Waterfront Skills, Waterpark Skills, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers, and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22) course.
This is a blended learning course. Participants must complete the two online courses before the in-person course. Participants will receive the links after registering for the LGI (2 hours) and recertification as a lifeguard(varies in time).
Prerequisites for this course include a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED or equivalent, and candidates must demonstrate competency in pre-course skill evaluations. Participants must be at least 17 years old by the last day of the course. The certification obtained through this course will empower individuals to train the next generation of lifeguards, contributing to safer aquatic environments across the nation.
Participants must be able to demonstrate the lifeguard skills to the standard (as shown in the video or textbook). Please review and practice your skills, if needed, before the course, as those unable to quickly bring their skills to the standard will not be able to continue and pass the course.
This course will be very intense and demanding. In addition to classroom instruction, evenings, free time, and meal breaks may be needed to work on practicing teaching.
