2024 Wilderness First Aid Course

Event Details

Wilderness First Aid
Camp Wisdom
April 5 - 7, 2024

The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Training is a 16-hour, hands-on course to give adult leaders the experience needed to handle illness and injury when medical care is more than an hour away. When paired with CPR/AED certifications, leaders are well prepared to deal with emergencies and routine medical issues that may occur on an outdoor adventure.

Most of the BSA high-adventure bases (HAB) require at least one person per trek to be current in WFA. Beginning in 2024, Philmont will RECOMMEND 3 adults over 21 be WFA trained, but will REQUIRE 3 WFA trained adults over 21 beginning in 2025. Of course, having more participants trained in WFA skills is highly recommended for any high adventure or backcountry experience.

Cost
Adult Participant: $150/person
Participants must be at least 14 years of age. Youth aged 14 - 18 years of age must have  at least two responsible adults present following two-deep leadership. Accompanying adults must also be registered to attend the training (no non-participating adults or youth).
Staff: $25/person
