Is that the rustle of the leaves or is it........ I heard a scratching on my tent. Maybe it's just a twig..... Fear not! The Lone Star District is preparing Camp James Ray for spooky good time! It's a halloween-themed Trail to Troop. There will be a lot of fun activities that will help the Arrow of Lights get to know the Troops and the Troops to know the Arrow of LIghts. It is the start of the journey for an Arrow of Light to find their new home in a Troop and Scouts, BSA. The Troops hosting this event will largely be from the Lone Star District so please be aware of this and make sure you are looking at a Trail to Troop that will best benefit you Scout. It's the highest level of adventure for the highest rank in Cub Scouts with a scary twist and perhaps some tricks or some treats. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Troops will be bringing events that show off not only some creativity and fun but also how each of them are utilitzing the youth-led patrol method in the Troop. All the fun culminates with glowing campfire. It's okay, those are just shadows.... or are they?
What spooky fun can you expect? How about healing zombies, a flaming pumpkin challenge, a pumpkin race, halloween type carnival games, capture the flag, kickball and more!
Event Details - Trail to Troop
Trail to Troop is an awesome opportunity for Arrow of Lights (and their parents) to experience some of the fun that they can look forward to once they cross over into a troop. Troops will host Arrow of Light Scouts from various packs and will form patrols which will include those Arrow of Light Scouts for the weekend. Packs will be assigned to camp with a host Troop by the event staff.
NOTE: The changes in the Cub Scout program that went into effect on June 1, 2024 limit who from Cub Scouts can Camp with a Troop or attend a Troop hosted, camporee-type event, which includes what formerly was called Webelos Woods. 4th graders/Webelos cannot attend Trail to Troop, not even as a day visitor. Only 5th grader/Arrow of Light Scouts and current Scouts BSA Scouts can attend. For more details, please go to this webpage: https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss03/ .
