Overview:
If you are looking to become a certified Red Cross Lifeguard, you’ve come to the right place! Circle Ten uses the American Red Cross curriculum to certify and train individuals as American Red Cross Lifeguards. All of our instructors are trained and certified American Red Cross instructors.
The course is fast paced and hands on. This course takes place over a single weekend. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
If the participant is a youth accompanied by a parent, then the parent will need to stay until the prerequisite skills tests are successfully completed. If the participant cannot pass the prerequisites (in water portion), then the participant cannot continue with the course.
Event Details:
- Check-in starts at 6PM on Friday evening May 5th, 2023
- The course will wrap up and end on Sunday evening on May 7th, 2023
- Registration will close Sunday, April 30 at 11:00 p.m.
Cost:
Lifeguard Course
- Youth Participant (non-summer staff): $160
- Adult Participant (non-summer staff): $160
- Summer Camp Staff $50 (for all summer camp staff wishing to be certified as a lifeguard and want to take this course, it is password protected and you will need to get the password from your Camp Director)
- Cancellations: all cancellations must follow the Cancellation and Refund Policy (see attachments)
Lifeguard Recertification Course
- Youth Participant (non-summer staff) $100
- Adult Participant (non-summer staff) $100
- Summer Camp Staff $30 (for all summer camp staff wishing to be recertified as a lifeguard and want to take this course, it is password protected and you will need to get the password from your Camp Director and show a current lifeguard certification)
- Cancellations: all cancellations must follow the Cancellation and Refund Policy (see attachments)
Required Information:
- First and Last Name
- Medical form A&B, if staying at camp overnight
- Emergency Contact Name, Cell Phone
- Current Lifeguard certification, if being recertified
Documentation Required at Check-in:
- A & B Health forms (if staying the night)
- Current Lifeguard certification, if recertifying
- Circle Ten Council Arrival Checklist
Additional Information:
- Food is not provided. All participants will need to bring their own food and snacks for training. There will be a break time for participants to leave camp to grab food.
- To satisfy Youth Protection Guidelines, an adult must remain on site overnight if they have a youth planning on staying overnight for the training. If the youth is female, then the adult must also be a female.
- Saturday night, if you're interested, we will order pizza (must be paid ahead of time through registration).
-Tent camping is optional and free of charge.
-If you wish to stay in a dorm room(optional) it will cost $50 for the weekend as an additional cost for the weekend and is based on availability.
-All participants must be at least 15 to take the Lifeguarding course.
Class Time Schedule:
Friday May 5th: 6PM - 10:30PM
Saturday May 6th: 8AM - 10PM
Sunday May 7th: 8AM- 8PM
(Times may change depending on class size and how quickly requirements are done)
Skills Prerequisite:
300-yard non-stop swim using freestyle or breaststroke with the face in the water (goggles are encouraged)
Tread water for two minutes with the hands in the armpits (treading using the legs only)
Swim 20 yards, retrieve a ten-pound brick from 8 feet deep water and swim back to the starting point keeping both hands on the brick in 1 minute and 40 seconds (goggles are not allowed)
