NRA SHOTGUN INSTRUCTOR COURSE

Activity Dates: 01/14-15/2022  and continuing on 01/21-22/2022 

Age Requirement: 21 and older to be a Certified Shotgun Instructor. 

Limited Exception: Scouts under 21 who plan to work on the shotgun range at Lost Pines during summer camp may attend and be certified as assistant or apprentice instructors, only with the prior approval of Mr. Bryson.

Cost: $80.00

This course includes the Basic Instructor Training (BIT), NRA Basics of Shotgun Shooting and the NRA Instructor Training.  All participants must have experience at shooting shotguns.

Description: This course is for training and certification of NRA Shotgun Instructors. It includes Basic Instructor Training, the NRA Basics of Shotgun Shooting and the NRA Shotgun Instructor Training.   

Class Size: This course is open to the first 20 who register. 

NOTE: If you have taken the BIT course within the last 2 years, you will not be required to attend the class on Friday, 1/14.  You should come at 1:00 pm on 1/15.

Locations: 

Friday 1/14/2022- 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm - Fickett Center
Saturday 1/15/2022- 8:30 am to 7:00 pm – Fickett Center
Friday 1/21/2022 - 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm - Fickett Center

Saturday 1/22/2022- 8:30 am to 7:00 pm –  Shotgun Range, Lost Pines Scout Reservation

What to Bring: On Saturday 1/22/2022,  if you own a 20 gauge shotgun, you can bring your shotgun, two boxes of ammunition and a cleaning kit. If you don't have a 20 gauge shotgun, we will have some council firearms available, but you will need to bring two boxes of 20 gauge ammunition (shot size 7 1/2 or 8).

NRA Certification Fee: After completing the course, there will be a fee to the NRA for certification.  The fee will be $30-$50 depending on whether or not you are a NRA member.
