What is Into the Woods and why attend?

Into the Woods is the primary opportunity for 5th-grade AOL Cub Scouts to learn what Scouts BSA is all about to continue to meet and interact with Scout Troops as part of preparing to cross over into Scouts BSA. It is an event that exposes the AOL's to Troop activities using the Patrol Method, in a Scout-led outdoor adventure, supervised by adult Scout leaders, and with parents nearby.

How much does it cost?

The cost will be $10 per scout to participate to help us cover event related costs.

Where is it at?

It will take place at Smilin V Scout Ranch (250 Co Rd 286 Spur, Liberty Hill, TX 78642) from October 10-12. 

After leaving Liberty Hill on RR 1869 continue about 6 miles until you see the blue Smilin V Ranch sign, and turn left on CR 285. Then follow the remaining blue Smilin V signs until you see camp on your right.

This is the second intersection with CR 285. DO NOT TURN AT THE FIRST CR 285 INTERSECTION. This route is quicker, safer and more respectful to our neighbors.

What should we bring?

Besides Class A's and Nalgenes (water bottles) for your Scouts, expect it to continue to be hot and sunny. 

Are restrooms available?

Yes, we do have restrooms available on-site. 

We are new to Scouting and did not do cubs - can we still attend?

Absolutely. Again, this is a great way to see your options whether your son or daughter is a rising 6th grader or already in middle or high school. Anyone other than AOL's and their units are limited to day visiting and may not stay overnight.

Are there any other resources for us as AOL parents?

First coordinate with your Unit and Den Leader as they will be working closely with area troops and the district.
