AOL's Troop Exploration Weekend is an event for AOL Scouts to visit the Troops as they have their best games and activities set up - all in one place! The theme for the weekend is ICONIC MOVIES!!
AOL Scouts and their Parents/Akelas/ Pack Leadership can plan to attend for the day on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 or they can plan to spend the night in the Pack Area Camping. Medical forms Part A & B will be needed for each person on site for the day- Scouts and Adults. If families/groups are spending the night, all pack rules will apply, all adults will need to be members of BSA and be YPT Trained current. These will be checked at Check In. Medical forms can be turned in at Check In, but preferrably in advance. Registration is needed and a patch will be provided for those who register before September 25th.
AOL Scout Families/Packs should want to plan their day and let the Troops they plan to visit know that they want to stop in during the morning rotations. You can visit up to 4 Troops in the morning, and can visit additional troops or engage in activities of any Troop in the afternoon. We hope you will find a Troop who your Scout can connect and continue their Scouting Journey. Lunch & dinner will be provided by a Troop, but you should connect with them in advance so they can bring enough food for visiting AOLs and their leaders. See schedule for more information.
Troops should plan to arrive on Friday, October 25th to set up, have activities for AOL Scouts to participate in on Saturday. Sunday is reserved for cleanup and packing up. Each Troop can choose if they would like to plan their own Scout's Own Service or activity for Sunday morning depending on the time they need to be back.
Show your Scout Spirit by including your theme in your Troop Activities, set up, wear for the day etc. There will be awards at closing ceremony for Scout Spirit, Cleanest Troop Area, Best Themed Troop, Scoutmaster Dessert Cookoff, and MORE!
Troops need to contact Packs in their area in advance and invite them to visit their Troop during the morning rotations and also ask them to join them for lunch, dinner or breakfast on Sunday. This is the time to connect with new Scouts and their leadership and share what your Troop does best and invite them to join your Troop after Crossover!
We hope the weekend will be a fun and exciting way to celebrate the advantages of Scouting America!! Please watch for emails from the Chisolm Trail Leadership and host Troop 146 for more information. Medical forms will be accepted in advance to expedite check in. If your troop collects Medical forms in advance, and makes a notebook to turn in the week before, YOU can have a speedy check in!!
