Event Details

Spend an evening with Andy Chapman, Chair of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement and Board Member of the World Scout Foundation.

The World Organization of the Scout Movement or WOSM is the international umbrella organization for Scouting. With174 member national Scout organizations comprised of 57 million individual Scouts, WOSM has been called, “the Greatest Global Education Youth Movement of the 21st Century.” Individual membership in this movement is symbolized by the World Crest worn on every Scout uniform.

The World Scout Foundation provides financial support and other resources to the World Organization of Scout Movement. It is a perpetual fund governed by a separate Board of Governors funded by donations in support of Scouting programs throughout the world.

This event is open to our Scouting community and guests. 

Attire is business casual.

Refreshments at 6:00 p.m.
Dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Program starts at 7:00 p.m.

Andy Chapman Bio

Edward “Andy” Chapman serves as the chairman of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. In this role he gives leadership to the World Scout Committee which supports over 57 million young people in 174 countries worldwide. This is Andy’s second term on the committee, of which he was elected to originally at the World Scout Conference which was held in Azjerbejan in 2017.  Andy has been an active member of Scouting since he was a young Cub Scout. As a youth member, Andy was very active and served as senior patrol leader of his troop as well as leadership positions in Order of the Arrow, the national honor society of Scouting in the United States. He also served as member of the camp staff of his local council. As an adult, he continued his servant leadership in several roles both nationally and internationally. He served as Wood Badge Course Director at the age of 29 and served as the Southern Region Chairman of the Order of the Arrow and a member of the NOAC leadership team. 

Andy has traveled to countless National Scout Organizations in support of Scouting during his tenure as the chair.

 

Andy is no stranger to the Capitol Area Council where he has attended Report to State several times. He is also a very active member of the World Scout Foundation board. Professionally Andy serves as a senior manager for Accenture.
