Wilderness First Aid:
Students are enrolled in a hybrid class - 8 hours of course content is accessed online, to be completed at your convenience. The online class must be completed before the scheduled skills evalutation at MEGA Training. The skills evaluation is approximately 8 hours of skills practice and evaluation.
CPR/AED:
Students are enrolled in an online class, approximately 2 hours of online content. The online class must be completed before the scheduled skills evalutation at MEGA Training. We offer Adult, Child and Infant CPR instruction. We use Prestan CPR dummies with feedback for compression effectiveness and rate.
Skills Evaluation:
Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED skills evaluations are scheduled on the same day. This is the in person day you signed up for at MEGA. The skills evaluation covers everything from removing gloves, assessments/paperwork, inhaler use, epipens, bleeding control, tourniquets (commercial and improvised), CPR, AED, choking, bone/joint injuries and lots and lots of splinting. It's all open book - just like it would be in the field - and we'll have skills reference binders to assist you. Instructors will cover each skill and practice until everyone is comfortable with it.
Certification:
Upon completion of Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED, students are issued an ECSI Certificate of Completion. Renewal is recommended after 2 years. This Certificate of Completion meets the requirement for Scouting America High Adventure Base Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED training.
