Chisholm Trail District Merit Badge Fair

Event Details

Our Merit Badge Fair is an annual event hosted by the Chisholm Trail District of Capitol Area Council that gives Scouts, ages 11-17 the opportunity to earn merit badges ranging from elective activities like Art to Eagle Scout-required merit badges.

Held this year on August 12th at the Austin Community College - Round Rock Campus, this fair aims to create an environment where Scouts have an opportunity to continue their advancement program and earn valuable merit badges in an engaging way. It gives youth the opportunity to take two three-hour classes or a six-hour merit badge block. Returning for this year is Robotics, which is a single all-day class.

This event historically draws around 300 youth from Chisholm Trail and the surrounding Districts. Utilizing 18 classrooms and various other open or public spaces to create a great environment for learning there will also be the opportunity to complete Adult Leader Specific Training, a COR/IH summit, and maybe more. The day is divided into two, three-hour classes or periods, with a built-in bring your own lunchtime in the middle of the day.

Not all badges will be completed during the day, but facilitating counselors will work to ensure they are providing what opportunities they can to complete requirements. The best way to be sure Scouts complete their badges is to review the requirements and do some 'prep work' in advance. Many badges ask that they create a notebook, keep a log, or have other requirements that can often at least be started in advance. Please review the requirements for any classes you hope to complete. Arriving prepared will lead to success! We hope to see you there!
