BSA Aquatics Supervision 2, Paddle Craft Safety Training - Basic and River Canoeing

BSA Aquatics Supervision 2, Paddle Craft Safety - Basic and River Canoeing
Float trips are popular Boy Scout, Venturing, and Sea Scout activities. Safety Afloat awareness training provides guidelines for safe float trips and is required of unit leaders but does not provide the skill training mandated by those guidelines. BSA Paddle Craft Safety expands Safety Afloat training to include the skills, as well as the knowledge, needed for a unit leader to confidently supervise canoeing or kayaking excursions.
There are 2 modules of training for canoeing: 1) Basic and 2) River (moving water). The training modules are open to any registered adult leader, Scout, or Venturer, who is age 15 or older. Those who have previously taken Paddle Craft Safety are eligible to take the river module.
The trainings are conducted by council-approved ACA instructors, takes roughly eight hours for each level and is valid for three years. You must be able to pass the classified as a BSA swimmer to take this class and pass the final written test to get the card and badge.
The cost of the course is $180.
