Council Name Contest

Event Details

The Golden Spread Council and South Plains Council are merging effective June 1st!

All registered Scouts and Scouters from both legacy Councils are invited to submit a recommendation for a new Council name to be considered. Rules for name submission:

  • Must be a registered Scout or Scouter in the Golden Spread Council or South Plains Council
  • Name recommendation must be submitted through this online form by May 29th at 11:59pm CST
  • Only one name recommendation per person allowed (multiple submissions will be removed from consideration)
  • Any past or current Scouting America Council names (nationwide) are ineligible
  • Final name selection will be chosen by the combined Council Executive Board and is subject to approval by Scouting America
  • The new Council name will be approved and announced on Tuesday, June 23rd 2026 by 9pm
