Due to the potential severe weather this weekend, the Golden Spread Council has decided to move Merit Badge University to Zoom meetings.

The annual Golden Spread Council University hosted by Ascension Academy in Amarillo, Texas offers an opportunity for Scouts BSA members to work on Merit Badges in a great learning atmosphere!  Held in the month of January, it is MBU’s intent to create an environment where Scouts have an opportunity to continue their advancement program and earn valuable merit badges that may not be readily available elsewhere. It gives youth the opportunity to earn up to three merit badges in one day, while helping them on their path to earn their Eagle Scout rank and serve our community.

These badges range from Artificial Intelligence to Weather to Cybersecurity and lots more!  Scouts are offered a diverse set of Merit Badges that will be either partially earned or completed on the day of the event (contingent upon the completion of pre-requisites prior to the event). Scouts will be able to enroll in up to three separate Merit Badge classes of their choice.

Adult classes this year: A presentation on Texas history from Wayne Benson and SYT training.

Registration for classes are first-come-first-served basis.

The classes are conducted by experts in their field of instruction and most are outside of scouting.
