2026 Camp Don Harrington Firewise Preparedness Day

The Texas Fire Service will be hosting this exciting event, and Scouts are invited to take part! Participants will enjoy an engaging presentation on wildfire preparedness, how wildfires start, how to prevent them, and what to do if a wildfire occurs. Scouts will also have the opportunity to meet wildland firefighters, ask questions, and see their specialized equipment up close—and there may even be a special guest appearance!

* Scouts BSA members will receive all of the above and participate in the Fire Safety Merit Badge (be sure to sign your Scout up for the badge during registration). Scouts who have already earned the badge will take part in a special conservation project, designed just for them—and their adults too!

* Lunch is included in the event fee.

* An event T-shirt will be available for pre-purchase online during registration only—no shirts will be sold at the event, so don’t wait!

* After lunch, everyone will come together for a camp-wide wildfire prevention project, which may include removing dead wood from campsites and cleanup around buildings, along with light tree trimming. Please bring work gloves if you have them.

* This event is open to all Scouts, registered leaders, and parents, and everyone is encouraged to help protect the camp from wildfire risks. * Registration is available for individuals or entire units.

* Camping is available Friday and/or Saturday night. Campsite reservations must be made separately from this event (check with your unit leader for details). All campsite assignments are subject to availability, weather conditions, unit size, and current fire restrictions. The Camp Ranger will make final campsite and fire restriction decisions.

* Payment is by credit card only.
