2026 Firewise Preparedness Day

2026 Camp Don Harrington Firewise Preparedness Day
The Texas Fire Service will be hosting this event and is open for scouts to participate! They will have a presentation on wildfire preparedness, how to prevent wildfires, what to do in case of a wildfire and Souts will have the opportunity to talk to wildland firefighters and see their equipment up close! They even may have a special guest make an appearance!!!!.
Scouts BSA members will get all the above and participate in the Fire Safety Merit Badge (sign your scout up for this badge on the registration page). If the Scout already has the badge, he/she will participate in a special camp conservation project developed just for them (and their adults of course).
Lunch will be prepared and provided as part of the fee. There will be an event t-shirt available for pre-purchase online at the time of registration. No t-shirts will be available at the event!
After lunch, we will gather for campwide wildfire prevention project which may include removing dead wood from campsites and certain buildings and some minor tree trimming. If you have a pair of gloves, please bring them!
We invite all Scouts, registered leaders, and parents of the scout to participate in helping keep Camp from a wildfire. Please see the flyer for more details on what's in store for you! You can register as a unit or an individual for this event!
Camping is available on Friday and/or Saturday. Please make those reservations separate from this event (see your unit leader for detail on how to do this). Remember that all campsite requests are subject to availability, weather, and unit size. The Camp Ranger has the final decision on campsite assignments and fire restrictions that are in place at the time of this event.
Please see the flyer for more details!
