Summer Merit Badge Day (June 24)

Boxwell Summer Camp Hybrid Merit Badge Program

The Middle Tennessee Council is thrilled to be offering a hybrid program this summer for Scouts who cannot attend Boxwell Summer Camp for a full week. This program allows Scouts to attend camp for a single day to work on a Merit Badge, similar to our Merit Badge Days in the spring and fall. This program is available during weeks three and four of our summertime program and is scheduled for a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at Boxwell Reservation. Scouts can choose from eight different Merit Badge classes each day as this will help them progress on their Scouting journey.

Program Details:

Cost: $45 per Scout (includes lunch and instruction). Some classes have additional fees for materials. Adults attending $10.

  • Check-In: 8:30 AM at the Admin Building “Crab” (next to the Health Lodge). Scouts and Adults will need to have their Health forms A, B, and C, completed, and turned in at Check in. Scouts will receive a wristband, map, and class kits at check-in.
  • Transportation between locations within the camp will be provided by bus. Scouts will need to take the bus to class, Lunch, to class if needed and then back to the Admin Building for dismissal.

Daily Schedule:

8:30 AM:    Arrival and check-in at the Admin Building
9:00 AM:    Morning Session: Merit Badge classes
12:00 PM:  Lunch at the dining hall. Eat A Meal
1:00 PM:    Scouts will have some time to hang out and go to the Trading Post during B meal
2:00 PM:    Afternoon Session: Merit Badge classes
4:15 PM:    Class is complete
4:30 PM:    Pick-up and check-out at the Admin Building. Scouts must be picked up by 4:30 PM no exceptions. Parents must sign the Scout out

Preparation:

  • Dress appropriately for the weather, as these classes will conduct rain or shine.
  • Bring a backpack with a pencil, paper, water bottle, and a small camp chair all labeled with the Scout’s name.
  • If Scout is taking a class at the Skilled trades, please wear closed toed shoes and clothing they can get dirty in except, American Business and Labor. Welding must have long pants on Blue jeans.
  • Notify us of any food allergies using the provided form.
