WOOD BADGE 2024
Boxwell Scout Reservation

Pre-Course Orientation September 7, 2024
September 27-29 and November 2-3

Since 1954, the Middle Tennessee Council has offered  Wood Badge training to thousands of adult leaders—JOIN THE LEGACY—of the over 2,500 MTC Scouters who have completed the training to earn their “beads.”

What is Wood Badge?
Wood Badge is Scouting’s most advanced training for adults offered at the Council level.  A national course open only to Scouting volunteers and professionals, the training has two distinct parts. The first part takes place in the outdoors where the aims and methods of Scouting are explained and demonstrated by a volunteer staff of fellow Scouters, During the second part, participants will show their knowledge of leadership principles by completing a set of personal goals related to their Scouting positions.

Why Attend?
To JOIN THE LEGACY of those Scouters whose Wood Badge training has strengthened their Unit, District, and Council; and, most importantly, has enriched the lives of generations of youth.

Who is Eligible?
Any adult who believes that every Scout deserves a well-trained leader and meets these requirements:

  • Be registered in Scouting
  • Be current in Youth Protection Training
  • Submit a current BSA ABC medical form (Part C must be completed)
  • Complete “Position Specific Training” for his or her primary role in Scouting
  • Be capable of functioning safely in the outdoors and knowledgeable of basic outdoor skills.
  • Be ready to have fun, learn, and become an even better leader!

Important!  Applying does not guarantee admission. Anyone not selected will receive a full refund. Participants must attend all five days of the course to complete the training.

Cost
$300.00  The fee is for materials, food, course tee shirts, a cap and training neckerchief, and other items.  A  deposit of $150.00 is due with the application and the balance is due by August 30, 2024,  Scholarships are available.
