Fall Wilderness First Aid Training @ Latimer

Event Details

Latimer Reservation is proud to offer to Scouts (age 14) and adults the opportunity to complete the Wilderness First Aid Training.  Scouting America National High Adventure programs require at least one adult ( 3 for Phimont) to be WFA certified. Join us at Latimer Reservation for a comprehensive, blended-learning course (online + on-ground skills check) led by certified instructors Janet Forde, Bob Forde, and Katie Sherrouse.

For more information contact Bob at bsawfa@bobbobbob.info

Important Dates & Times

  • Friday, Oct 16 (7:30 PM – 9:00 PM): Optional CPR Skills Check.
  • Saturday, Oct 17 (8:30 AM – 5:30 PM): WFA Skills Check & Scenarios.
Note: Breakfast (8:00 AM) and Lunch are provided on Saturday.

How to Register

Cost: $100.00 (Includes WFA online code, cabin lodging, and Saturday meals).
Note: Each participant must register individually with a unique email address to receive their specific online course code.

  • Complete Online Work: After registering, you will receive an email with a course code for the 8-hour online portion. This must be finished before you arrive.
  • Check Your CPR: WFA certification requires a current CPR card. If yours is expired:
Register for the ECSI Online CPR/AED course (Use Code: BSA2026Q3).
Complete the online portion and arrive Friday by 7:00 PM for the skills check.
  • New to this class is the option to purchase the ECSI WFA Field Guide for $20 as a part of registration. Wilderness First Aid Field Guide, Third Edition is your user-friendly, pocket-sized guide that provides quick access to essential information for handling common injuries and illnesses when medical care is an hour or more away. This spiral bound book is water resistant and ready to be carried along on your adventures.

What to Bring

  • Proof of Completion: You must bring your online course completion certificate to participate in scenarios.
  • Medical Form: A current Medical Form (Parts A & B) is required upon arrival.
  • Gear for Scenarios: Bring a backpack packed for a typical 3-night backcountry trip (minus food). We will use your gear to improvise treatments.
  • Personal Items: Sleeping bag/linens for a twin bed, pillow, toiletries, towel, and pen/paper.
  • Clothing: Dress for the weather! We will be outside "rain or shine." Wear clothes that can get dirty—you will be playing the role of a victim in some scenarios.

The Fine Print

  • Space is Limited! Register early to secure your spot.
  • Refunds: Fees are non-refundable once the online WFA course code has been issued.
