Order of the Arrow Induction Weekend (Ordeals)
This event is the spring induction/service weekend for the order. Aspiring arrow men will undergo the ordeal process, ordeal members can make the trek on the journey to Brotherhood, and all members of the order take this time to come together in fellowship. This is an opportunity to fulfill your obligation and provide cheerful service to Camp Mack Morris and to further Scouting in West Tennessee.
The Order of the Arrow (OA) Induction Weekend is a Scouting event that marks the beginning of the process to become a full member of the OA:
The Ordeal
The first step in the induction process, where candidates demonstrate their courage, self-reliance, and ability to live by the Scout Oath and Law. Candidates work on camp projects, sleep apart from other campers, and receive small amounts of food.
Brotherhood ceremony
After six months of service as an Ordeal member, candidates can participate in the Brotherhood ceremony, which marks full membership in the OA.
Safeguarded rituals
The OA uses symbols, handshakes, and private rituals to create a sense of community. These rituals are only known by members and other adults who are legitimately interested.
Ceremony secrecy
The ceremony is only open to candidates, the OA members running the ceremony, and the candidates' parents, guardians, or religious leaders.
