Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) is working as patrols, this hands-on course introduces adult leaders to the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Along with Scoutmaster Position-Specific this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scout Troops in order to be considered "trained".
The sessions will begin at 8:00 pm on Friday evening & ends at 11:30 am on Sunday. This is an overnight experience, so participants should bring their own 10 essentials, necessary personal items, writing instrument, & notepad. Participants can sleep in Adirondacks or bring their personal tent or hammock. You will need to bring sleeping bag and pillow. A personal water bottle is recommended as well. The course fee is $50.00 and includes materials, meals and Trained Strip. A confirmation with additional details will be sent out prior to the course weekend. Attire for the weekend is the BSA Field Uniform and a positive attitude is expected. For safety all participants should check temperature and health before leaving home and not attend if feeling sick.
