Forestry Merit Badge Class

Event Details

ForestryMerit Badge Class

Saturday, May 20th

9:00am-2:30pm

Earn your Forestry merit badge in one day! Join us at Harbison State Forest’s Environmental Education Center to earn your Forestry merit badge in a fun, hands-on, educational workshop.  In working through the Forestry Merit Badge requirements, Scouts will explore the remarkable complexity of a forest and identify many species of trees and plants and the roles they play in a forest’s life cycle. They will also discover some of the resources forests provide to humans and come to understand that people have a very large part to play in sustaining the health of forests. You’ll prepare a field notebook, collect and identify forest trees, experience the principles of forest management first-hand and learn about forestry’s many contributions to society and our way of life.  Cost is $5 per Scout and must register before Friday, May 12th.

Onced registered for the class, Scouts should be prepared for the material being discussed by reviewing the items below before the session.

These Merit Badge materials are available for download.
