Climbing/COPE Training

April 19 - April 21

Camp Barstow

This course has you working on the basics to help one of the council's Climbing/COPE Directors run the Climbing tower and/or COPE course during events. Knots, belaying, rescuing, climbing, and just hanging around are what's in store for this weekend course.

The sessions will begin at 7:00 pm on Friday & ends at 1:00 pm on Sunday. This is an overnight experience, so participants should bring their own 10 essentials, sleeping bag, tent/hammock (adirondacks available), necessary personal items, writing instrument, & notepad.  The course fee is $40.00 and includes materials, meals, and use of gear.  A confirmation with additional details will be sent out prior to the course weekend.  Activity uniforms are appropriate attire for the weekend (no skirts or short shorts, you will be in a harness), also please wear closed toed closed healed shoes (no flip flops or crocs allowed at the tower) & a positive attitude is expected.

Youth under 18 who wish to sign up should have Climbing Merit Badge or Climbing experience. Please use YPT guidelines and email Climbing Chair April Mayfield (april.mayfield@scouting.org) to discuss being part of this trainig and to get the password to sign-up. No password needed for adults.
