October 25-27, 2024
Myrtle Beach State Park
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) is a hands-on course designed to introduce adult leaders to the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the outdoors by using the Patrol Method. Along with Scoutmaster Position-Specific training, this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scout Troops in order to be considered "trained".
The sessions will begin at 7:00 pm on Friday & end at 10:00 am on Sunday. This is an overnight experience, so participants should bring their own 10 essentials, sleeping bag, tent, necessary personal items, writing instrument, & notepad. The course fee is $50.00 and includes materials, meals, and a Trained Strip (the trained strip will only be provided to participants who have all other training completed at the conclusion of the event). A confirmation with additional details will be sent out prior to the course weekend. A field uniform (class-A) is required & a positive attitude is expected.
All participants are required to bring an updated copy of their BSA Health Form and have current YPT.
Registration closes at 11:59pm 10/20/2024. Late or on-site registration will not be accepted.
