2026 Wood Badge Course

The 2026 Palmetto Council Wood Badge Course will be held over 2 weekends (September 18-20, 2026 & October 17-18, 2026) at Camp Bud Schiele in Rutherfordton, NC. You must attend both weekends. The fee for the course is as follows:

• $275 for Palmetto Council participants (A scholarship paying 50% of the total cost is available upon completing a short form that is linked below)
• $295 for Out of Council Participants
• $120 for staff

A $135 payment is due with participant registration.

Wood Badge has been developed for ALL Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Sea Scout and Venturing leaders, as well as council and district leaders. The course content and the principles introduced apply to scouters in all leadership positions in all of the program areas. It provides a common foundation of leadership and team skills used throughout the program. Who should attend? YOU should attend!

To attend Wood Badge, you must:

1. Be a registered member of the BSA
2. Have completed SafeGuarding Youth Training
3. Have completed the basic traning course for your Scouting position
4. Have completed the outdoor skills program for your Scouting position, if applicable
5. Be capable of functioning safely in an outdoor environment
6. Have successfully completed and submitted a BSA physical (Parts A, B and C) prior to the start of the course
7. Have successfully completed the on-line Wood Badge Pre-Course Orientation prior to Weekend 1. (Log into My.Scouting.org prior to clicking the link)

You will be required to be in full uniform for the course. The uniform required will be the official scout uniform for your scouting program, including the official scout shirt, pants or shorts, socks and belt.

Scouters registered with a unit in Palmetto Council are eligible to apply for a scholarship to attend Wood Badge 2026 (up to 50% of the cost). To apply, you must complete the scholarship application form found HERE.
