Leave No Trace Trainer Course- Level 1

WHO - Adult leaders.
WHAT - The two-day Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course emphasizes skills and techniques essential to both teaching and practicing Leave No Trace. Core components of the Level 1 Instructor Course include: Overview of Leave No Trace principles, practices and ethics, including both the hows and whys behind Leave No Trace practices that protect the outdoors while minimizing our impacts to the land, soil, vegetation, water, wildlife, cultural resources and other people. Hands-on skill demonstrations, teaching skills and techniques and one teaching session led by each participant. The role and function of the Leave No Trace organization and a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor. Upon completion of the course, each participant will become a certified Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor.
WHERE - Camp Yawgoog, Bucklin Hall, Memorial Room, Camp Yawgoog Road, Rockville, RI.

Parking is located near Bucklin Hall. A map of the reservation including where to park will be emailed to all participants prior to the event.
WHY - Participants taking the two-day Level 1 Instructor Course learn Leave No Trace skills, ethics, and techniques for educating others about these low-impact practices.
Bring a tent for camping. Cabins will be provided in case of inclement weather.
Participants will be sent additional information in advance, teaching topic assignments, a gear list, and required forms. Each participant will be expected to spend 15-20 minutes peer-teaching on one of the 7 Leave No Trace Principles.
Saturday dinner, cracker-barrel, and Sunday breakfast are included. Bring a bagged lunch for Saturday
.Bring a scout uniform shirt. Attire is casual. Prepare to spend a majority of the day training outside (weather permitting).
