We are also seeking registered adults to help provide Two-Deep Leadership for classes throughout the day.

WHAT - Join us for Merit Badge Mania (MBM) at Camp Norse, a full day of learning, exploration, and advancement! Scouts will have the opportunity to work on merit badges taught by industry professionals, subject matter experts, and passionate hobbyists eager to share their knowledge and experience.

Whether you're pursuing advancement on your Trail to Eagle or exploring a new interest, Merit Badge Mania is a great opportunity to learn something new alongside fellow Scouts.

Choosing the Right Merit Badge

1. Explore Something New: Talk with your parents and Scoutmaster about which merit badge to take but ultimately choose something that genuinely interests you. Merit Badge Mania is a great opportunity to step outside your comfort zone, discover a new passion, and learn from experts in the field.
2. Consider Your Readiness: Although there are no age requirements for merit badges, some classes move quickly and cover a significant amount of material in a single day. Before registering, review the badge requirements and consider whether the subject is a good fit for your experience level.

   • Always discuss your selections with your Scoutmaster before registering.
3. Prepare Before You Arrive: The best way to get the most out of Merit Badge Mania is to come prepared.
   • After registering:

     • Obtain the merit badge pamphlet or review the Digital Resource Guide.

     • Read through the requirements before the event.

     • Complete any published prerequisites.

     • Bring all required supporting materials, such as notes, reports, photos, letters, or written assignments.

   • While many Scouts may complete requirements during the event, completion of a merit badge is not guaranteed. Some requirements simply cannot be completed in a classroom setting. Advance preparation will help you maximize your learning and progress.

4. Merit Badge Records: Completed requirements will be emailed to the registered email address through BlackPug following the event. It is the responsibility of the Scout, parent, unit leader, or advancement coordinator to ensure that completion information is properly recorded with the unit. Merit badge completions and completed requirements will not be automatically entered into Scoutbook.

Participant Expectations

Scout Uniform Required
All Scouts and adult participants are required to wear the official field uniform (Class A) throughout the event. Wearing the uniform demonstrates Scout spirit, promotes unity, and helps create a positive Scouting atmosphere.

Cell Phone Etiquette
A Scout is Courteous. To ensure a productive learning environment, cell phones should be kept silent or on vibrate during all merit badge sessions. Calls, texting, gaming, social media use, and other distractions should be avoided while class is in session. Participants who need to make or receive a call should step outside of the classroom area.

Be Prepared to Learn
Come ready to participate, take notes, ask questions, and engage with instructors. Bring any prerequisite work, required materials, and a positive attitude to get the most from your Merit Badge Mania experience.

Follow the Scout Oath and Law
All participants are expected to conduct themselves according to the principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Respect fellow Scouts, instructors, volunteers, and camp property at all times.
