Art Merit Badge at Taunton Art Association

Who: Any Scouts BSA member.
What: The Art Merit Badge introduces Scouts to the world of visual creativity through handson projects and design exploration. Scouts learn about different art techniques, elements of composition, and how artists communicate ideas. By creating their own artwork and studying various styles, participants gain confidence in selfexpression and an appreciation for the role art plays in everyday life.

Materials to bring to class:
- Art Supply Bag or Box (Please write the Student’s Name on it)
- This could be a backpack, a tool chest, a canvas bag, or some type of plasticcontainer. It should be something that is easy for the student to bring back and forth, and something that can hold all of their supplies.
- # 2 Pencils
- Colored Pencils and/or crayons
- Eraser
- Markers (black and colors) Fine Point and Wide point
- Scissors (Safety style for younger students)
- Drawing Pad
- Notebook
Artists often wear aprons, shirts, or smocks, over their clothes to protect them, or they just wear old clothes that they don’t mind getting stained.
