Financial Assistance
The forever commitment of the Narragansett Council is to provide Scouting to all youth, regardless of their financial status. To that end, with the support of many private donors and local companies, we are able to provide assistance of camp scholarships to those most in need.
We believe that all Scouts should all have the opportunity to attend summer camp. Financial barriers should not stop a Scout from attending camp. Please follow the link to find more information on the Campership Program and apply.
Deadline to apply May 15, 2026. May 15th for camp scholarships. If a family situation changes or if a Cub/Scout decides to attend camp after this deadline, please be assured that we will consider a family’s request.
* All requests for aid will be treated in a confidential manner.
Den Chief Leadership Program
Lead the Fun. Build Towards the Future.
Boys & Girls Entering at least the 6th grade in Fall 2026
$150.00 per week
* Den Chiefs are eligible for camperships. Please see above.
The Cub Camp Den Chief Leadership Program transforms Scouts BSA members into trained youth leaders who actively enhance Cub Scout Day Camp while earning service hours, leadership experience, and hands on skill demonstration.
This program aims to:
- Develop leadership skills in communication, mentoring, and responsibility
- Improve camper behavior and engagement
- Provide authentic leadership opportunities
- Create a pipeline for high quality future camp staff
- Create transferable life and leadership skills
What makes this different than in years past?
In previous years, Den Chiefs often served as informal helpers at day camp. While valuable, that model offered limited training, unclear expectations, and inconsistent leadership growth.
The Den Chief Leadership Program is a redesigned experience that is no longer simply “helping at camp.”
Each den chief will receive:
- Den Chief Uniform T-Shirt
- Documented service and leadership hours
- Certificate of Completion
- Den Chief Leadership Patch
- $50.00 credit (per week served) to Camp Yawgoog for the following summer
- Opportunity to receive Red Cross First Aid & CPR certifications at no additional cost
- Eligibility for a letter of recommendation
- Experience applicable to school, sports, jobs, and future leadership roles
This experience can support:
- Rank advancement requirements
- Leadership positions within troops
- High school resumes and college applications
Adult Volunteers
We deeply value and appreciate any adult who is willing to generously volunteer their time to support our Day Camp program. Volunteers play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and meaningful experience for our campers, and we are grateful for their commitment and energy.
As a thankyou, any adult who commits to and successfully fulfills a full week of volunteering will be eligible to receive a refund for one week of camp.
Adult volunteers must register online to be able to qualify for volunteer staff as well as receive the free week of camp. All volunteers must abide by National Camp Accreditation Program Standard SQ-401. There is no additional cost to register if already registered within a Pack/Troop/Crew/Post/Ship.
Camp staff includes all personnel, paid or volunteer, working under the direction of the council or camp management, who interact with camp participants . Camp staff includes employees, CITs, and continuing volunteers (e .g ., camp commissioners, volunteers asked by the camp management to assist program on an ongoing basis)
Refund & Cancellation Policy
A full refund will be given if an entire session is canceled by the Narragansett Council for such reasons as fire, illness, or low enrollment. No refunds will be given due to inclement weather, waterfront/pool closure or any natural occurrences.
Parent Cancellations and Refunds: Cancellation of a session at least two full weeks prior to the session will result in a full refund less $50 per week that is being canceled. No refunds are given once a session begins.
Change of Session: Participants may change from one session to another without losing any payments -- provided there is available space.
Illness: With a doctor’s note, camp may provide partial credit for campers who miss three or more days in one session.
