Angling Educator (AE) Training Courses are facilitated by the Scouting America Fishing Leadership National Team. Courses cover Cub Scout and Scouts BSA Fishing Basics. AEs learn age-based and skills-appropriate fishing tools and techniques, for simple cane pole and spin cast fishing. The course highlights best practices in both the classroom and in the field.

What do Angling Educator do?

Teach Cubs and Scouts to fish.

Improve day camp & summer camp attendance through fishing programs.

Provide a major tool for Recruiting, Retaining and Reactivating Cubs, Scouts and Scouters.

Gain knowledge and learn skills that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Why do we need Angling Educator Courses?

Fishing may be an ancient pursuit, but it is one of the most popular things that Scouts want to do!

So where does Cub Scout fishing happen? Everywhere! That’s why there’s a Fishing Elective Adventure in every Cub Scout rank; from Lion to Arrow of Light.

Scout’s BSA want to fish too and there are three Fishing related merit badges to choose from:

Fishing Merit Badge.

Fly-Fishing Merit Badge.

Fish & Wildlife Management Merit Badge.

Scout fishing programs are a very cost-effective recruitment and teaching tool!

Time: 12:00 Noon till 4:00 PM 

There is a $10 fee for this course to cover the cost of facilities, food, beverages, and program materials.

A $5 discount ($5 fee) is available for participants who volunteer to staff our “Family Fishing Day” on Oct 10th.

Previously trained Angling Educators (or CAIs) can attend as staff to assist with instruction and to refresh and extend their knowledge and skills. There is no fee for Staff registration.
