All aboard for a weekend where Scouting history meets railroading history. Heritage Trails District's 2026 Fall Camporee brings Scout Units, Venture Crews, Sea Scouts, and Webelos/AOL Dens together at Marge Goodfellow Park, adjacent to the Rail Trail in New Freedom, PA, right next door to the Northern Central Railway of York.

This year's theme, "Steam Into History," challenges Scouts to put their skills to the test through Railroading merit badge requirements and a hands-on History Train experience, with a morning ride on the historic steam railway to bring it all to life.

When: September 25-27, 2026 (Day Participants: check-in is Saturday morning from 6-7 AM)

Who: Troops, Crews, Ships, and Webelos/AOL dens are all welcome.

Cost: $20 per person (cost includes fee for the Saturday morning train ride)

What to bring: Day packs, rain gear, and paper & pencil, plus a first aid kit and drinking water per patrol/Scout.

A quick note on site logistics: cooking on Saturday is propane stoves only (Leave No Trace patrols and dens), camp duty rosters should account for adjacent private property, and — as always — pack it in, pack it out.
