NRA Pistol Instructor Course

Event Details

Who: Scout Leaders, at least 21 years of age.  Candidates must have a solid background in firearm safety and be able to demonstrate good pistol shooting skills and safety.  

What:  On successful completion, candidates will receive a National Rifle Association Instructors Rating in Certified Pistol, which is required by BSA to supervise pistol shooting.  The course consists of 3 segments:  Basic Pistol Training, Basic Instructor Training and Certified Pistol Instructor Training. 

When:  The course will consist of about 23 - 24 hours of classroom and range training.  The course will begin sharply at 5pm Friday March 3rd, and should conclude around 1pm on Sunday March 5th.  (Rough Schedule:  Friday, arrival and set up 4:30pm, with class instruction 5pm to 12pm, Saturday 7am to 6pm and Sunday 8am to 1pm)

Where:  The course will be held in Rothrock Lodge at Camp Horseshoe. Participants are welcome to camp overnight.  Meals will be provided for Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast.  Snacks will be provided for Friday and Saturday nights.  Friday night dinner will not be provided, so you will need to eat first or pack your dinner.

Cost:  Cost for this training is $185.00.  The course fee includes lodging, training materials and supplies, meals and snacks.

Registration and Payment is on-line via the Council website and calendar.

Class size is limited, so only the first 16 qualified applicants can be accepted.  You must be present for and complete the entire course in order to be eligible for certification.

Refund policy:

100% refund if cancelled by February 1.

Refund after February 1, only if a qualified replacement is found to take your place.
