NRA Shotgun Instructor Course

Event Details

 

Who: Scout Leaders, at least 21 years of age.  Candidates must have a solid background in firearm safety and be able to demonstrate good shotgun shooting skills and safety.  

What:  On successful completion, candidates will receive a National Rifle Association Instructors Rating in Shotgun, which is required by BSA to supervise shotgun shooting.  The course consists of 3 segments:  Basic Shotgun Training, Basic Instructor Training and Certified Shotgun Instructor Training. 

When:  The course will consist of about 23 - 24 hours of classroom and range training.  The course will begin promptly at 5pm Friday October 7th, and should conclude around 1pm on Sunday October 9th.   (Rough Schedule:  Friday, arrival 4:30pm, with class 5pm to 12pm, Saturday 7am to 6pm and Sunday 8am to 1pm)

Where:  The course will be held in Rothrock Lodge at Camp Horseshoe. Participants will be able to bunk there.  Meals will be provided for Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast.  Snacks will be provided for Friday and Saturday nights.  Friday night dinner will not be provided.

Cost:  Cost for this training is $165.00.  The course fee includes lodging, training materials and supplies, meals and snacks.

Class size is limited, so only the first 16 qualified applicants can be accepted.  You must be present for and complete the entire course in order to be eligible for certification.

Refund policy:

100% refund if cancelled by September 1.

Refund after September 1, only if a replacement is found to take your place
