Cubs Explore Rocks 2026

Event Details

Join us at Cubs Explore Rocks on Saturday, May 9 at Camp Karoondinha to learn about fossils, geology, gold panning, and much more!

Registration and check-in will begin at 8 a.m. with the event beginning promptly at 9 a.m.

Cubs will spend a full day learning and having fun. There will be gold panning with special guest Andrew Rockhound, fossils with special guest paleontologist Dr. Jennifer Peteya, games, seismographs, weather rocks and Rock 'n' Roll.

Units are encouraged to spend the night in tents they bring, although camping is optional. There will be a campfire program and cracker barrel Saturday night for those units that do decide to camp overnight. Packs will need to bring their own food to cook for their Saturday night dinner.

Cost is $15 per Scout and includes activities and event patch. The adult leader and staff fee is $10 per person. Please bring a bagged lunch and a water bottle.

Units will be together in groups during this event.  Each unit is required to have two deep leadership present for their Scouts.  Additionally, there MUST be one adult leader for every 8 scouts present (with a minimum of 2 adult leaders to meet the two deep leadership requirement).
