2026 Kittatinny Lodge Appalachian Trail Service Project

Project Description: For this year’s project we will be working on the Black Swartara Campsite Revegetation Project. We will be:
- Removing the existing campsite and subsequent fire rings. We will be planting rocks and plants/trees and breaking up the packed dirt for revegetation. Shoveling and dispersing the camp fire ashes. We will be removing all signage, and makeing it wild again.
- Creating a turnpike through the muddy area, and a drainage ditch to move water off trail in the low lying area.
- Brush back the blue blaze trail down to the spring.
- Improving the campsite that is LNT friendly; south of the Black Swartara.
Tools Needed: TBD. Will be shared with participants prior to the event.
Personal Equipment: Boots, work clothes, gloves, water bottle, lunch, snacks, hat, first aid kit, and BSA Medical (Parts A&B)
Meeting Location: We will be meeting at the parking lot along the east side of Rt. 183 (near Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation). Here is a link to the exact location.
