Scout leaders and adult volunteers are invited to attend Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) training on May 16 and 17, 2026 at Register for IOLS Training (scoutingevent.com). This costfree training covers the fundamental outdoor skills needed to successfully and safely support Scouts BSA outings.

Who Should Attend: Registered Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters and other adult leaders looking to improve practical outdoor skills and confidence in taking youth outdoors.
When:
Saturday, May 16, 2026, beginning at 8:00 AM Eastern Time
Sunday, May 17, 2026, ending at 11:00 AM Eastern Time
Where: Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation, 402 Blue Mountain Road, Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania 17972.
Registration Deadline: May 13, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
Cost: There is no registration fee for this training.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is a handson training course designed to give adult leaders practical experience in core Scout skills such as campsite selection, outdoor cooking, fire building, knots and lashings, map and compass, and more. Through simulations of a classic Scout weekend participants will build confidence to lead Scouts effectively in the outdoors.
