2024 Cub Scout Winter Weekends at Heritage Reservation

Event Details

Get out of the house this winter at Heritage Reservation's Cub Scout Winter Weekends! Cub Scouts and their families are invited to join us for a weekend of fun and friends.

Packs attending for the full weekend will stay in our Potomac Homes overlooking Lake Courage. Cafeteria style meals are provided in our dining area at Pathfinder Lodge. Come with your personal gear and enjoy winter with its exciting program features. Choose from several weekends - each of which is open to Scouts from any Pack. Winter Weekends at Heritage Reservation are a tremendous opportunity for Cub Scouts and their families to enjoy a fun-filled day in the great outdoors while experiencing the beauty of winter.

Day passes are available for those families that wish to come up for the day and enjoy the winter fun!

Registering Your Group

Packs MUST have a minimum of 12 participants (combination of youth/adults) to reserve a house for the weekend. You may reserve as many houses as your pack requires, subject to session availability. Maximum capacity per house is 24 participants.

NO PARTIAL HOUSES – Packs must meet the 12 FULL WEEKEND participant minimum to reserve a house.

If the registration is found to have less than the miniumum for housing, the unit will be charged the difference to the minimum (12).

Groups with less than 12 wishing to attend for the full weekend are encouraged to reach out to other local Packs to partner together to reach the 12 person minimum to reserve a house.

*Non-refundable deposits collected through December 8, 2023 to reserve space. Early rates will apply until January 15, 2024. January 5 and after, full fees due at the time of booking. Deposits are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be used toward any group balance.

**Full Weekend Participants receive one FREE adult for every 10 Scouts in attendance during the same session.

Reserving spaces without a firm commitment may result in spaces being blocked for others who wish to participate.

All refund requests/cancellations will be less the deposit amount listed if received more than two weeks prior to the scheduled event date. There will be no refunds for requests received within two weeks of the scheduled event date.

Activities are subject to change. Should there be sufficient snow, some activities may be switched out for sledding and/or snowshoeing.  All needed equipment is provided. The camp has sleds and helmets. However, please bring any equipment that you may have (no hockey sticks please). All individuals (youth and adults), per BSA safety policies, must wear a helmet to sled. 

Arrival and Check-In

Full Weekend Participants

Full weekend check-in beings at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Pathfinder Lodge. Weekend staff will be on-site to direct you to where you are staying and Pathfinder Lodge to check-in. During check-in, participants will be assigned to activity groups and will be provided final weekend schedules.

Day Pass Participants

Check-in for Saturday only, Day Pass participants begins at 9:00 a.m. at Keystone Lodge. Participants are asked not to arrive prior to 9:00 a.m. as staff will not be available.  Participants will be assigned to activity groups and will be provided with a schedule for the day during check-in.

Medical Forms and Background Clearances

A medic will be on duty throughout each weekend to oversee health and safety and respond to any emergencies.

Each participant (youth AND adult) must provide a completed BSA Annual Health and Medical Form Parts A & B during check-in.  If you have questions about the medical form, please see our FAQ. Medical forms will be collected and secured for the duration of the event. At the end of the event, participants can pick up their forms. Any forms not retreived will be destroyed.

All adults spending the night at camp must attach a copy of current, completed BSA Youth Protection training and required PA background clearances to their medical form. Failure to provide these documents with your medical form will result in dismissal from the property. No refunds will be fiven for those individuals who are asked to elave for non-compliance.

    • Current BSA Youth Protection Training Certificate
    • Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH) Criminal Background Check
    • Pennsylvania State Child Abuse Clearance
    • Either: PA Resident Volunteer Verification Form (if you have lived in PA for 10 consecutive years or longer) OR FBI Fingerprint Based Criminal History Check (if you have lived outside of PA within the last 10 years).

Housing

Heritage Reservation's Potomac Homes will only be available for single packs to reserve. Packs must have at least 12 participants (combination of youth/adults) to reserve a house. Houses are limited to 24 participants max. Seven houses are available to be reserved. Packs may reserve multiple houses.

Groups with less than 12 wishing to attend for the full weekend are encouraged to reach out to other local Packs to partner together to reach the 12 person minimum to reserve a house.

Packs will be responsible for assigning space within their reserved house(s) and for maintaining BSA youth protection standards within their reserved house(s).

Dietary Needs

The absolute last time to report any special dietary needs so they can be accommodated is Friday, one week prior to attendance.

What To Bring

We suggest that you bring the necessities to be outside for the day; sweaters, warm jackets, extra clothes, boots, etc. Dress for the weather. Be prepared to be outside, to get wet, and to get muddy. 

Full weekend participants will need to provide their own linens and overnight personal items. Each Potomac Home includes a small kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and stove/oven.  Upstairs there is a full bathroom. Downstairs there is a half-bath.  Each home has a washer and dryer in the basement that can be used to clean/dry wet and muddy clothing.  Participants must provide their own laundry supplies. Please do not put shoes/boots in the washer or dryer.

HERITAGE RESERVATION ADDRESS

The main address for Heritage Reservation is 300 Heritage Road, Farmington, PA 15437. Some GPS units, however, will try to bring people in through a locked gate on the back side of the property. If your directions try to have you enter Heritage Reservation off Braddock Rd. DO NOT use them. The entrance to Heritage Reservation is off Dinner Bell-Five Forks Rd. The alternate address for Heritage Reservation is 2690 Dinner Bell-Five Forks Rd., Farmington, PA 15437
