Maple syrup and the process of its evolution from sap to stacks of pancakes has been a part of Pennsylvania heritage for centuries. Dating back to the Native American tribes in the area, who shared knowledge of gathering sap from maple trees to be boiled down into a viscous sweet elixir with early settlers, has evolved into a roughly 150,000-gallon industry (per the Pa Department of Agriculture) and making Pa the 6th ranked area for maple syrup production. Join fellow scouters on March 5th at Camp Guyasuta for a day which will not only introduce you to the process of maple syruping, but also test your scout skills at the same time! End the day with your fellow scouts, warming up by the fire with a delicious pancake dinner! See you at the sugar shack!
The main event begining at 9AM will be open to all scouts and webelos. An afternoon session beginning at 1PM will be open to cub scouts of any age. Everyone is invited to join us for the pancake dinner at 5PM!
Any interested units are also invited to camp Friday evening (March 11th) to assist with the first boiling process of the syrup, as well as stay and camp after on saturday eveing.
The leaders guide will be available soon!
