Scouts BSA Advancement Merit Badges
Scouts taking a merit badge class are required to discuss the badge with their Scoutmaster.
No walk-ins will be accepted.
Classes are held at
Camp Guyasuta
300 – 23rd Street, Sharpsburg, PA 15215 - McGinnis Education Center South Wing
Please note the following:
* Please bring a water bottle, notebook, and pen
* Please bring the BSA medical form Part A&B with you on the day of the badge
Before attending the merit badge, you must read over the merit badge book and complete any requirements.
Req 1 & 2: Research the U.S. Constitution, its principles, and the 6 purposes in the Preamble.
Req 4: Watch/read the national evening news for five consecutive days and discuss issues with your counselor.
Req 5: Select a historical speech, research the author/context, and explain its relevance today.
Req 7: Visit a national monument, federal facility, or state capitol (in-person or virtual).
Req 8: Identify your U.S. Representative and Senators, and write a letter regarding a national issue.
You must also be prepared to discuss your readings and any needed research with the counselor!!

Blue Card Information for Merit Badges
Scout blue cards will be available directly from the merit badge registration receipt page. From there, you may either print the blue card or upload it to Scoutbook for your records. For further information, see the attachments on the right side for instructions
Cancellation Policy
Merit badge classes book quickly, and Camp Guyasuta has a firm no-refund policy. Check your calendars accordingly.
