NRA Basic Rifle and Shotgun Shooting Course

This course will follow the NRA First Steps training program to teach proper safety, handling, use, and cleaning of rifles and shotguns.

For individuals interested in becoming NRA certified Rifle and Shotgun shooting instructors, this course is a mandatory prerequisite no matter what your prior shooting experience. A completion certificate from a basic rifle and shotgun shooting course must be presented in order to be certified as an instructor.

The US Archery Online course must be completed BEFORE THE WEEKEND. The online course costs $40 and is payable directly to USA Archery. Instructions can be found here:

Cost: $150

• Fee includes meals, housing, course materials, ammunition, and other program costs.

Participant Requirements:

• Registered Venturer or Scouts BSA Member (14 or older)
• Registered Adult BSA Leader.

Other Important Information:

• No personal firearms or ammunition allowed in class. All firearms and ammunition will be provided.
• Participants may bring their own eye and ear protection if they wish, however, eye and ear protection will be provided.
• All participants must bring a copy of the BSA Annual Health & Medical form Parts A & B.
• Participants will be staying in Heritage Reservation's Potomac Homes. Participants will need to provide all personal overnight gear and be prepared to be outside all day in the weather.

Classes may have to be canceled if minimums are not met.
