Boy Scouts and Venturers can earn the Swimming or Lifesaving merit badge during our five-session program. All participants need to be in good physical condition and should be prepared to attend every session. You will need a bathing suit, towel, change of clothing, and swim googles if desired. Be prepared!

ALL Participants are required to bring along to Session 1 a BSA Activity Consent Form signed by a parent or guardian and a Blue Card signed by the Scoutmaster.

Swimming Merit Badge will require the ability to successfully complete the 100-yard BSA swimmer test (Requirement 2) for Session 1. Also, you should be able to sufficiently demonstrate the front crawl or trudgen (front stroke), back crawl (backstroke), sidestroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke and to swim 150 yards without resting (Requirement 3). While some swim stroke instruction and practice will be given, this is not a “learn to swim” class.

Lifesaving Merit Badge will require the ability to swim ¼ of a mile for the first requirement of Session 1 demonstrating proficiency with the front crawl (front stroke), sidestroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke. The Swimming merit badge is a prerequisite.

Registration is on a first come, first served basis and class sizes are limited.Earning these badges during the winter months will free up valuable time at Summer Camp to pursue other unique opportunities for fun and adventure!
