The warmer weather is on its way, which means its time for some boating fun!
Patrols should be starting to plan their boat designs, gathering materials and building their Cardboard Boats for the Regatta Race!


Event Details:
When: September 20, 2025
Where: Waterfront of Camp Hart, Musser Scout Reservation
Cost: $10 per participant
Register By: September 6, 2025

This event is open to Troop Units and AOL Cub Scouts
We have made a few changes this year. The theme this year is KART RACERS! (Let's get creative in those boat designs.) For the first time, up to 3 scouts are allowed in their patrols boat during the race!
Please review updates to the materials that are allowed to be used on your boat. The boats and paddles can be built with the following materials only:

  • Cardboard
  • Paper
  • String
  • Glue (should be used for joining pieces together. It should not be a structural piece of the boat.)
  • Duct tape FOR SEAMS ONLY
  • Paint/varnish - NO SEALANT STYLE PAINT (such as a basement or porch type sealant)

Boats will be judged on creativity, durability, and speed in the race.


*Remember all participants in your patrols boat must have BSA swimmer status. (Troops are required to provide proof of each scouts swim status.) Please send an email ahead of the event with your units roster and swim status of each participant.

Leaders—We are looking for leaders from other units to help run stations this year and make it a bigger event for the scouts. Please contact Joe Schell (shotgunschell@yahoo.com) to discuss station ideas and sign your unit up for the fun.


Scouts - There is a Patch Design Contest this year for the event. Your design must include Cardboard Boat Regatta 2025 on it. Please email your design ideas to shotgunschell@yahoo.com
and mglenn215@comcast.net by May 31st. Samples of patch designs from the past years are attached for inspiration.


Last year's Regatta was a blast and filled with Scout Spirit! We are looking forward to more fun with everyone and hope to see more boats from the leaders out on the water in September.
