University of Scouting
The University of Scouting is a supplemental training opportunity for all adult Scout leaders, as well as Troop, Crew and Ship youth. Don't let the University name scare you - we have no application, no exams, no grades, low tuition, and the friendliest faculty you'll ever find.
At UofS you can find, all in one place, the widest variety of training opportunities in all program areas (Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouting, District Operations, and Council). Whether you are new to the program or a veteran of many years, the University provides interesting and useful courses. Aside from skill-enhancement courses, we offer some "Position-Required" and National level courses (the national number is in parentheses).
For courses available, download the course catalog; to avoid picking courses that overlap, download the class grid. The most up-to-date versions can be found in the Attachments list at the lower right corner of this page. When you register, after entering your contact information, be sure to click on the lower red "Update Information" box to select your courses. You will receive an e-mail confirmation from NO-REPLY@247SCOUTING.COM, and a reminder e-mail several days before the event; please check your junk mail folders if you don't find them in your inbox. Save your confirmation e-mail, as it contains a link to your registration. You can use that link to change your course selections until a few days before the event by clicking on the lower "Update Information" box. Courses may be added to the catalog until mid-January; check back periodically for catalog updates.
In 2025, we are offering Kids' Club, a Supervised Activity Center for Wolf, Bear and Webelos/AOL-Age Youth (generally, 2nd to 5th grade) while you attend classes. See the course catalog for details. Register your child under the Cub Scout Youth category.
All courses are held in-person at Valley Forge Military Academy. Some classes will be on the second floor of a building with no elevator. If you are unable to use stairs, please let us know as soon as possible, and we will try to shift room assignments. You will receive final room assignments when you check in on February 1. Coffee, tea, and Danish in the morning and cookout for lunch - hot dogs, hamburgers, meatless options and other items.
Don't forget to build a lunch break into your schedule - lunch will be available from 11 am to 1 pm. New this year: Grab & Gab lunch. Grab your lunch and drop into one or more discussion groups between 11 am and 1 pm. Meet your Council Commissioner; discuss the Order of the Arrow, high adventure, women in scouting; meet program partners, and more!
