Certified Angling Instructor Weekend
Certified Angling Instructor Weekend
Resica Falls Scout Reservation
November 9 and 10, 2024
Completing the CAI course empowers the Scouter to develop and support BSA fishing programs and enhance the recruiting and retention of youth and adults. The course covers hands-on experience of conventional and fly casting, fly tying, knots, finding, hooking, fighting, landing, and releasing fish, fish etiquette, ethics, and how to teach these skills. During the course, you will tie 2 flies just as a Scout earning the fly-fishing merit badge would do and learn how to cast a fly 30 feet. Most importantly, you will have the skills to make fishing an active component within the Council, District, and Unit.
The course will be held at Firestone Lodge, Resica Falls Scout Reservation, on the beautiful Big Bushkill Creek. Lodging is available the night before the course starts. You can check in anytime after 5 pm Friday.
