Who says Pinewood Derby racing is just for kids?

Scouting America’s Cradle of Liberty Council is teaming up with 93.3 WMMR and The Preston & Steve Show to bring the excitement of Pinewood Derby racing to Preston & Steve's Camp Out for Hunger!

Whether you're a former Scout looking to relive the glory days, a creative tinkerer with a need for speed, or someone who's never built a Pinewood Derby car before, this is your chance to put your imagination—and your engineering skills—to the test.

Build it. Race it. Brag about it!

Design and build your own Pinewood Derby car, then put it to the test on a professional aluminum racing track. From sleek speed machines to outrageous custom creations, we want to see what you can dream up!

No Scouting experience is necessary. Just bring your creativity, your competitive spirit, and a willingness to have a great time.

Event Details

Date: Thursday, November 19, 2026

Location: In the parking lot at Xfinity Mobile Arena, next to Stateside Live!

Check-In and Inspection is at 6:00pm.  Racing starts at 7:15pm.  Please arrive early enough to allow sufficient time for inspection.

Who Can Participate: Adults ages 18 and older

Registration: Advance registration required. Participation is limited to 50 racers.

Preston & Steve's Camp Out for Hunger is one of the Philadelphia region's great charitable traditions, bringing our community together to fight food insecurity. We're proud to add a little Pinewood Derby excitement to the experience while introducing more people to the fun, friendships, and opportunities that Scouting provides.

Before You Race

Participants must provide their own Pinewood Derby car.

All cars must comply with the official event rules.

All cars must use an official Scouting America Pinewood Derby wooden block as the basis of their chassis. Creative modifications, custom designs, and alternative wheels are welcome, provided the completed car meets all event specifications.  See the rules for details.

No previous Pinewood Derby experience is required!
