NYLT (National Youth Leader Training) is the premier youth leadership training offered by Scout Councils.  One pre-requisite for participation is having completed ILST (Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops.) 

Running Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) at the troop level is the first and most important step in the Scouting America youth training continuum. Typically taught collaboratively by the Scoutmaster and the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), it spans roughly 3 to 5 hours and equips newly elected youth leaders with the practical tools they need.

Pulling off an ILST course can be daunting for a new troop, or new leaders though.  The GOOD NEWS is that Troop 205 is going to host ILST and open it up for Scouts and Leaders in Westmoreland Fayette Council.  

09/12/2026 9:00-4:00 P.M. (8:00-9:00 A.M. registration/check-in period; scouts must be picked up by 4:30 P.M.)

$10 cost if registered by 09/05/2026, $15 as a late fee

Covers lunch, trained patch (provided by council), and facility use donation

Each registered troop must provide one registered adult leader for the day to maintain an appropriate youth to adult ratio.
