What is Wood Badge?
Wood Badge is the premier adult training program of the Boy Scouts of America. It teaches contemporary leadership and team development skills in an outdoor setting. Its purpose is to aid Scouters in providing a quality program that will enable Scouts to grow to their greatest potential
The course encompasses the key concepts of management skills from leaders in the management field. Therefore, this course will be helpful not only in your Scouting job, but also in your career.
Why go to Wood Badge?
Wood Badge is the second phase of the Adult Training Continuum. The purpose of Wood Badge is to develop skilled leaders who can strengthen Scouting units in achieving the mission and vision of the Boy Scouts of America.
Come to Wood Badge to improve your leadership of small groups, your understanding of team development, your conflict resolution skills, and to have fun. These elements are the heart of Wood Badge. You will find the training not only relevant to Scouting, but to many other areas of life as well.
Course Fee: Early Bird Fee is $250 if paid by May 1, 2018. $50 minimum deposit must accompany your application. The balance of the course fee must be paid by July 1, 2018. Scholarships may be available through your local Council, workplace, or chartered organization.
The course is limited to 48 participants so be sure to register early! Registrations received after the initial slots are filled will be placed on a waiting list and will be first come, first served.
Uniform: All participants must wear the official BSA Field Uniform (shirt, pants, belt, and socks) appropriate for his or her primary role in Scouting. A course neckerchief will be provided. Participants may wear long or short-sleeved shirts and uniform pants or shorts. Female participants may also wear the BSA uniform skirt or culottes. Dark colored, closed-toe shoes appropriate for a camp setting must be worn.
